Take a good look at this picture. Christen and I were brainstorming and trying to construct a visual of what the fountains of the deep breaking up would look like in the early stages of the world wide flood of Noah's time. Noah's family were tucked away in the ark and would not have seen these columns of water. Yet an estimated population at the time of between 500 million to 2 billion people, did see this horrific site. 

Where did this water come from?

The deep storage reassess of the Earth, like Howe or Carlsbad Caverns may of contained these waters that were originally divided during Day 2 of creation. Meaning 1/2 of the original water went inside the Earth and the other half in the atmosphere.

But shortly after the rain began when Noah and family entered the ark, the Earth started to bust up. Huge geysers of water blew up in the air like an oil well. Forcefully scattering water from within, and the rain from the moisture laden atmosphere came crashing down. What resulted was a global soup of plants, animals, people, sediment and water all tossed and swirling about for 5 months.

371 days was the total time frame from that first drop of water till Noah and his family, totaling 8, left the large wooden vessel.
